Neem processing

The department promotes the ecological and economical use of neem tree among farmers and youth groups.  These groups are trained on production of neem oil, soaps and candles and bio-pesticides.  Such creates new business opportunities for them.  KWETU also advocates for quality control and product development by initiating activities that foster the creation of better trading environment for small and medium scale enterprises [SMEs]. Outreach
The department deals in setting up outreach programs that facilitate information dissemination and awareness creation to on reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, Voluntary Counseling and Testing, life-skills; and environmental and biodiversity conservation through alternative livelihoods and advocating for community participation from grass root level on the importance and need for conservation within the coastal communities on sustainable use of the available natural resources. Food processing and solar drying
It deals with processing of fruit & vegetable preserves to increase their economic value.  Trainings encourage food preservation and value addition through solar drying and production of marmalade, chutneys, jam e.t.c by  use of locally available materials .Solar drying encourages fruit preservation especially for mangoes and pineapples supply is higher than demand by use of solar dryers. Beekeeping department
The department trains and promotes apiary set up under the mangroves trees as an alternative way of generating income as well as mangrove forests conservation. The farmers are trained on management of apiaries, honey processing and honey by-products. View Image Gallery

Organic farming department
The department i trains on bio-intensive farming approach involving both agriculture philosophy and farm management which helps in improving soil fertility; links up with local government and research stations to facilitate technology transfer to farmers. View Image Gallery

Mariculture department
The department promotes silvofisheries activities within mangrove ecosystems by training rural coastal communities to develop environmental friendly; income generating activities on high valued marine organisms such as fish, prawns and crabs; that promotes livelihood opportunities that adhere to environment protection through sustainable use of natural resources within the coast province of Kenya.
